Samsung Promises 10-Year Durability for Galaxy Z Fold 7 Display

Samsung revealed an interesting fact about the durability of the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7, claiming the device can last ten years.
Earlier this month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as the world’s thinnest foldable phone yet. It just measures 4.2 mm when unfolded and 8.9 mm when folded. It features a foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, HDR10+, and 2600 nits peak.
The device features an ultra-slim design, a smarter camera, advanced AI tools, and more convenient capabilities that a flagship-level phone should have. Apart from these known novelties, the interesting fact of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is that it can last 10 years.
Samsung Display revealed it has conducted a rigorous durability test of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, assuring the display can last 10 years. According to the company, the OLED used in the device has proven to remain functional even after a 500,000-fold durability test.
For the past few years, the foldable phone’s maximum durability capacity has been three to four years. However, it’s not the case for the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7; it has raised the test benchmark to 200,000 folds.
The Korean tech giant has partnered with Bureau Veritas for the durability test. Usually, foldable displays were targeted to earn a 200,000-fold benchmark; however, Samsung has pushed the limit as it has turned it to 500,000 folds, which shows its confidence.
Samsung Display mentioned that this mark “translates to over 10 years of use for average users folding their device about 100 times a day, and over 6 years for heavy users folding more than 200 times daily.”
One of the reasons behind the improved durability is the adoption of Samsung Display’s newly developed shock-resistant structure, which is inspired by the design principles of bulletproof glass.
