Samsung just unveiled its slimmest folding model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, during the Galaxy Unpacked event. The newbie attracted the entire Galaxy audience with its stunning thin design, beating every other foldable in the Galaxy Z series from older generations. Despite arriving with some exceptional features, if you are looking to upgrade from your Galaxy S25 Ultra to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, then wait! Here’s the reason why?
The “Ultra” models in the Galaxy S series are significantly known for their best-in-class features, with Samsung always working on improving and upgrading the overall UI and UX that eventually drives the user experience to the next level. Similarly, the Galaxy S25 Ultra packs a wide range of features and enhancements, thanks to the inclusion of One UI 7.
At the same time, Samsung just introduced a new member of the Z series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Most primarily, it brings some stunning upgrades, such as its attractive thin design, but does it stand up to the hype of being a camera-efficient smartphone and having better hardware than the Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Galaxy Z Fold 7 May Not Be the Camera Upgrade You Expect
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 doesn’t seem to beat the stunning camera hardware of the S25 Ultra, even after bearing the same camera system as the S25 Ultra; here’s why:
To begin with, the Galaxy S25 Ultra features a set of four cameras, including a bigger 200MP sensor for clicking normal pictures, a 50MP telephoto camera sensor to take pictures of farawayobjects, a little telephoto sensor of 10MP for capturing ultra-sharp details from any angle, and lastly, an ultra-wide sensor of 50MP.
On the comparison side, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 bears only three camera sensors, where the bigger camera sensor is 200MP, which is similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra; however, the second one is a telephoto sensor that is only 10MP with 3x zoom, which is not as great as the S25 Ultra’s telephoto sensor, and lastly, an ultra-wide camera that is 12MP that doesn’t offer more crisp and sharp photos than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Telephoto camera:
At the same time, coming to the 50MP telephoto sensor of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which can support up to 3x to 5x zoom and can even take the zoom level up to 10x using AI. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 only bears a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom.
Ultra-Wide sensor:
The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 50MP ultra-wide camera sensor that can easily provide you some stunning photos with bigger and brighter details; specifically, it works amazingly in the night mode. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 12MP ultra-wide camera, which doesn’t offer bright photos due to its lesser width.
Video Recording:
The Galaxy S25 Ultra can record videos in 8K at 30 fps and slow-motion videos in 4K at 120 fps. While it’s impressive that Samsung has offered 8K video recording at 30 fps, it has unfortunately done a little compromise in the slow-motion recordings, where the device can only offer slow-motion videos in only 4K at 60 fps.
Selfie camera:
The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a 12MP selfie camera, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a 10MP front snapper. Since the selfie sensor of the Z Fold 7 is a slight downgrade, at the same time, users can easily convert their back camera as their selfie camera for a bigger image experience.
AI features:
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is significantly enriched with an all-new ProVisual Engine that primarily consists of a few AI features such as Object Eraser, Generative Fill, and Astro Log (or Log video). On the comparison side, the Z Fold 7 models come with Samsung’s Fun AI. Also, the newest foldable also provides the ability to use it like a tripod, anyway.
There are a few advantages as well!
With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, users will get:
- 100x Zoom support
- Super Sharp Photos with amazing qualities
- Smooth slow-mos
- Perfect to shoot pro-level movies
- Suitable for telephotography (to take pictures when the object is placed far away)
At the same time, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is primarily exceptional for:
- Hands-free vlogging
- Its unique design
- Creative camera angles
- Bigger and more interactive selfie camera
- Best for making Instagram Reels
- Suited for enhanced video calling with friends or family
