Android Auto 14.8 Beta Arrives—Gemini Integration Returns, Maps UI Gets Search Bar Upgrade

Indeed Google has moved on to replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on Android Auto service as its digital AI voice, arriving in supported cars in the coming months. At the same time, previous reports suggested that the latest Android Auto 14.8 version, which stopped a few days ago, showed the glimpse of Gemini taking over Google AI Assistant.
Now, according to the latest report, it looks like Google has already started rolling out Android Auto version 14.8; however, the current update is running in its beta testing phase. The source further listed a few more additions that are supposed to arrive with the Android Auto 14.8 stable version.
Specifically, this includes a string code that stated a new digital assistant option instead of Google Assistant, which hints that the word digital assistant here represents Gemini. At the same time, the Google Assistant label in the Android Auto Settings now shows “Manage your Digital Assistant.”
Beyond this, Google Maps gets a new search bar in Android Auto, where the Maps interface receives a huge search bar alongside a split briefcase icon that acts as a work/home route shortcut.
Further, the latest beta update also adds a new option that allows Android Auto users to compose their messages using other apps with their contact name as well. Well, with Android Auto 14.7 still in the beta phase, these above-mentioned features have been spotted in the latest Android Auto 14.8 Beta; however, it remains to be seen when Google will implement the changes in the Android Auto platform.
