The Samsung Galaxy S26 series could be full of surprises, as now its Ultra model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is rumored to feature a Sony-made 200MP sensor of nearly 1-inch size.
Recently, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Galaxy S26 Edge were spotted on the GSMA Database with dedicated model numbers. The absence of the Galaxy S26+ hints that the company could replace the Plus model with the Edge; however, it’s not officially confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, a reliable tipster, Focal Digital, on Weibo reported that the next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra could be equipped with a 200MP camera from Sony, and the image sensor might be nearly 1 inch big (1/1.1 size), which is said to be “super powerful.”
If the report comes true, then Samsung will drop its ISOCELL HP2 camera, which it has been using for three generations, starting from the Galaxy S23 Ultra and then reusing in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Reportedly, the company will use the same sensor resolution (200MP) but will drop its in-house ISOCELL camera and adopt Sony-made CMOS for an enhanced photography experience. On the other side, Sony is developing the 200MP camera, which features a physical size of 1/1.1 inch. In comparison, it is bigger than ISOCELL HP2 and ISOCELL HP9, which are 1/1.3-inch and 1/1.4-inch, respectively.
In recent days, several Galaxy S26 Ultra reports surfaced online, such as that it could feature the same primary sensor as its predecessor, have 16GB RAM, and more. However, Samsung has yet to release any official statement regarding Sony’s camera adoption, so it remains to be seen whether the report will come true.
