Samsung expands One UI 8 development for Galaxy S22 and Z Fold 5 models

Samsung is rapidly progressing with the development of its next major OS, One UI 8 that will run Android 16 on top. Following Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung appears to be testing the latest One UI version for Galaxy Z Fold 5 alongside Galaxy S22.

Previously, report mentioned that the Galaxy S25 Edge was spotted running on Android 16-based One UI 8 version on test servers; meanwhile, this is now followed by more Galaxy devices, the Z Fold 5 and S22+, suggesting that the company has already started developing One UI 8 for these models internally under closed doors.

More specifically, according to the details shared by the user, Alfaturk via X, Samsung’s Galaxy S22+ units have just surfaced running One UI 8 (Android 16) on the Geekbench database, signaling that Samsung has already started testing One UI 8 for the S22 models. The Geekbench results looked impressive, while also suggesting that the S22+ units are US-based by its model number, SM-S906U.

Alongside, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 models are also seen running One UI 8, carrying build number, SM-F946U (where the model number is US-based). This eventually hints that the development of One UI 8 has already begun.

Well, Samsung Galaxy S25 series are already testing One UI 8 Beta in selective regions; however, the Galaxy S22 lineup is ineligible to receive beta, while Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get One UI 8 Beta once Samsung starts expanding the beta phase for more eligible Galaxy devices.
