Google Pixel 10 Puts Pressure on Samsung

Samsung is aggressively looking forward to verifying the competitiveness of its semiconductor foundry and trying to work out a few of the fundamental issues encountered to date.

Reportedly, Google decided to cast aside Samsung and make up its mind to rely on TSMC to build the Tensor G5 processor for the Google Pixel 10 series. The decision turned out as a shock to the Korean tech giant.

A reliable tipster, Junkanlosreve, shared a post on X, revealing that Samsung Electronics is actively working on a serious mode to verify the competitiveness of its semiconductor, as Google ditched it over TSMC

For years, Google fixed its dependency on Samsung to produce the processors of the Google Pixel series, and the choice to switch to TSMC was a hard blow. Regarding this, the Korean tech giant has held a global strategy meeting to assess the situation and acknowledge what corrective measures could be adopted to make its offering more competitive, all in the awareness that with the stepping up of competition for advanced processes below 5 nm, the gap with TSMC has been widening.

It appears that the lower yield rates of good products could be the major problem that intensified the Samsung-Google partnership. One of the other reasons that complicate the situation are the difficulties encountered in developing the 2nm process, which is scheduled for mass production in the second half of this year. It will be interesting to see exactly how Samsung will deal with this scene and what new strategies it will adopt to avoid these kinds of losses.
