Samsung Galaxy Watch to Track Beta Carotene Levels with New Antioxidant Index

Samsung is to introduce a new Antioxidant Index feature to measure beta carotene levels, and now the guidance pages have leaked, providing details on how it will work & more details.
A few days ago, Samsung already confirmed that it is working on a new feature called Antioxidant Index for the Samsung Health app and will introduce it in the second half of 2025 on the Galaxy Watch 8 series.
The Antioxidant Index feature will help you to measure your body’s carotene levels and offer personalized nutrition advice, and it also lets you optimize your diet by providing insights into your intake of antioxidants.

It’s also reported that to measure your beta carotene levels via the Antioxidant Index feature, you will require a Galaxy Watch. Now, a new report from Android Authority leaked the guidance pages of the feature that provide details exactly how the feature will work and what it can measure.
The pages revealed more details regarding the feature; for instance, it can help you to prevent chronic illnesses by removing free radicals and reducing oxidative stress and understand whether you are eating the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables. Noticeably, based on the correlation between fruit and vegetable intake and the accumulation of carotenoids in the skin, the feature will measure your level in three categories, including the antioxidant index level, which will be displayed in both full and half tile sizes on your Galaxy Watch screen.

According to the leaked guide page, you will need to connect your Galaxy Watch to your phone first, then press the pad of your thumb firmly on the center of the sensor placed at the back of the watch. It will let you check the progress of the measurement on your phone via the Samsung Health app.
Samsung has not yet mentioned whether the new Antioxidant Index feature will be compatible with older Galaxy Watches or only the new watches.
