Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 to run One UI 8 Watch out of the box

Samsung is looking forward to debuting its next-generation wearable smartwatch, Galaxy Watch 8, which is anticipated to be based on One UI 8 Watch.

The Korean tech giant is gearing up to hold its next major Galaxy Unpacked event in early July 2025 in New York, USA, and it will be the first time in the past three years since 2022. This suggests that Samsung is putting much effort into the US market amid increased risks due to reciprocal tariff measures by US President Donald Trump. It’s expected that the company could launch the latest Galaxy Watch 8 at the event.

A tispter, @DevOfIpos, shared a post on X, claiming that Samsung is strategizing to skip One UI 6.5 Watch and One UI 7 Watch versions to jump directly to One UI 8 Watch with the latest Galaxy Watch 8 series.

According to the tipster, the reason behind this jump is to sync One UI versioning with smartphones. He also shared an image of a few strings, including a firmware version L505USQUOAYE2, which seemingly hinted at this upcoming change. The first four letters of the firmware (L505) followed by “U” suggest that it’s for SM-L505U, which stands for the US variant of the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

It means that the coming Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will run One UI 8 Watch  out of the box. However, there’s no official word regarding this report, so it remains to see whether this report will come true.
