Apple could adopt Samsung’s UDC technology for its first foldable iPhone

Samsung could inspire Apple to feature an under-display camera with its first foldable iPhone, like Galaxy foldable phones have been featured for so long.

The Korean tech giant is actively working on maintaining its leading legacy in the foldable market by introducing innovative devices. Currently, it is looking forward to debuting at least three new foldable phones this year, including Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip FE. Apart from these devices, the company is also anticipated to launch a trifold phone; however, it is unclear whether this year or next year.

On the other side, Apple is also gearing up to debut in the foldable market by launching its first foldable iPhone, which will have an under-display camera on the folding screen. Whereas Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series has featured the UDC technology since 2021.

A reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, on Weibo, claimed that Apple’s upcoming foldable phone will feature an under-display selfie camera on the folding screen. Whereas the cover display is expected to feature a camera in a cutout. If this report comes true, this means that Apple will copy Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold device by adopting an under-display selfie camera for the folding display.

Under-display is a technology that permits a camera to be housed beneath the main display of a device, which deports the need for a hole or notch, creating a more seamless and uninterrupted display experience.
