A couple of months ago, Google announced that it’s going to roll out a highly-awaited incident reporting feature in Google Maps for cars equipped with Google’s built-in system, Android Auto, in the US. As the days passed by, the new yet revamped incident reporting function could be coming to Android Auto to some extent; meanwhile, this is confirmed by the recent report flashed on Reddit.
Google’s incident reporting feature reportedly made its first appearance for Android Auto users within Google Maps who shared the information through the Reddit platform; however, the wider rollout of the feature is still awaited.
The incident reporting feature significantly allows users to have real-time incident warnings regarding traffic issues, accidents, and road blockages. When no one is seeing the functionality going live, a Reddit user in the US shared that this incident reporting is live in their vehicle, which looks like a yellow-coloured triangular icon with a “+” symbol in the middle.
Moreover, tapping in the yellow triangular icon brings up the new Add a report menu along with a few other options like Crash, Slowdown, Construction, Lane Closure, and more.
However, this newest incident reporting feature is currently spotted live for a single Android Auto user in Google Maps in the US, while Google is yet to release this useful functionality widely to all the individuals. In context, this feature will be helpful for Android Auto users to drive safely without being distracted by certain crashes, accidents, lane blocks, and so on.
