Google Wallet Makes Samsung Galaxy Phones Hotel Room Keys

Google Wallet on your Samsung Galaxy smartphones will let you unlock your hotel room through a virtual key provided by your hotel.

Google is continuously expanding its functionalities and compatibility to enhance the user experience. The new report revealed that Google has announced that the Google Wallet app for Android devices can store virtual keys for digital locks to let you lock or unlock the door of your room. You can easily unlock the doors of elevators, guest rooms, gyms, and pools by using the app and your smartphone.

Currently, you can add boarding passes for airline tickets; now, you can store and access the hotel room keys. A hotel’s app, email, or website can offer you the ‘Add to Google Wallet’ button; once you press it, it will bring relevant details to the Google Wallet app.

Noticeably, before going through the relevant details, you must check in, get a room assigned, and get the hotel key access. Apart from this, you also have the option to add it ahead of time.

You will have to unlock your phone to use the hotel room key. However, some hotels may permit you to access the key without even unlocking your phone. The first hotel to support this new Google Wallet feature is the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg, Sweden. It’s expected that later on, more hotels will likely support this new feature.

The Google Wallet app is a completely free digital wallet that can store your credit and debit cards, tickets, passes, keys, and IDS. It offers user-friendly payment functionality.
