The enterprise edition of Samsung Galaxy Tablets is getting 8 years of updates. Yes! You read that right, as Samsung is offering eight years of updates to its tablets’ Enterprise editions.
The Korean giants debuted the Galaxy Tab Active 5 series tablet early this year in January, which includes two variants: the Galaxy Tab Active 5 and the standard non-enterprise variant. As per the ritual software policy, the brand has allotted five years of security patches and four years of major OS updates to both tabs.
But now the allotment has changed as a Samsung executive from the Netherlands has revealed on LinkedIn that the Galaxy Tab Active 5’s enterprise edition will get eight years of major OS updates as well as security patches.
Eight years of software support is a surprise for Galaxy fans, but not new, as Samsung has already supported enterprise devices for a little longer. A couple of years ago, when it extended support for security updates to four eyes for flagship and select mid-range phones and tablets, Samsung assured five years of security updates to enterprise editions of those devices.
However, this is the first time Samsung is ensuring both extended OS and security updates for enterprise edition devices. The assurance is also limited to tablets, and smartphones, such as the currently debuted Galaxy Xcover 7, get the same seven-year software policy as the Galaxy S24. Only the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Enterprise Edition is the one device that is eligible for this extended software policy.
