Samsung won the race based on recent data from Recon Analytics. New studies from Recon Analytics revealed that while global operators were asked about the top retailers who had the best overall radio access network (RAN) portfolios, more than 50% of testifiers named Ericsson and Samsung as the top two.
The Korean tech brand ‘Samsung’ is in the top two on the list of top retailers. This is being speculated on by an online survey conducted throughout October and November 2023 with 100 global operators. Each of the respondents worked at a service provider that sells smartphone services.
Noticeably, one feedback operator per country was permitted. Even though a multinational operator like Orange France and Orange Belgium would count as two specific responses, When it comes to choosing the network partners, all the respondents must have one of the roles mentioned here: influencer, budget holder, decision maker, or purchaser.
There are approximately 710 live commercial mobile networks globally, as per the estimates of Recon Analytics. The founder of Recon Analytics, ‘Roger Entner, stated that the 100 operators taken captive in its survey “represent a meaningful part of the world”. However, the relatively small sample size results in a margin of error of 9.8%.
As expected, Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung are the top three most popular vendors. Whereas China had prevented the occurrence of the survey, causing the vendors Huawei and ZTE to be unappreciated.
Basically, the results are great for Samsung, but on the other hand, not so satisfactory for Nokia, and this doesn’t seem like good news for the Finnish retailers. Unfortunately, Nokia closed 2023 on an unexpected note when AT&T mobile carrier announced that it would go with Ericsson to install open RAN technologies in its network and excluded Nokia.
