Samsung has initiated the October 2023 update for Galaxy S23 devices; it was available with the fourth beta update, which is available in late September. The company gradually brought the update to more Galaxy devices; now, more locked units of the Galaxy S23 are getting new updates in the US.
Notably, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra have started to receive an October 2023 update to Verizon-locked units with firmware version numbers S911USQS1AWIF, S916USQS1AWIF, and S918USQS1AWIF, respectively. Earlier, the device had already received updates from several other carriers as well, such as T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Xfinity, Spectrum Mobile, and US Cellular. Along with this, the unlocked variant has also received an update.
The October 2023 update belongs to the monthly security update, which is a maintenance program run by Google that primarily aims to resolve different security vulnerability updates that are found in the Android system.

With the latest update, the Galaxy S23 devices are getting more than 40 fixes, which will enhance the overall security of the devices. Along with these, the update may also bring some more improvements, which will enhance the overall performance and stability of the devices.

The update is available as OTA (over the air), so if you are using a Verizon-affiliated Galaxy device, you should have received a notification about the update availability for your device. If you haven’t received the notification yet, you can install the update manually by going to the software update menu in the system’s main settings and hitting the download and install button.
